Privacy Policy for Smartiv

Effective Date: June 9, 2025

Smartiv (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect the information you provide when using the Smartiv application (package name: com.smartiv.hospitality) on Android-based Smart TVs and hospitality devices.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Smartiv does not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information (PII) from users.

We do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers

  • Location data

  • Contact lists

  • Call or SMS logs

  • Photos, media, or files

2. Information We May Access (Device-Level Permissions)

While Smartiv does not collect personal data, it may request certain device permissions to deliver a secure and seamless user experience in hospitality environments.

a. Accessibility Services

Smartiv uses the AccessibilityService API to enable specific functionality for kiosk-mode operation in hospitality settings such as hotels, hospitals, or serviced apartments.

Why We Use Accessibility Services:
  • To detect and prevent access to unauthorized apps (e.g., settings, system launchers).

  • To automatically redirect users back to the Smartiv interface if they try to leave the app.

  • To ensure a controlled, simplified, and secure experience for guests who are not expected to navigate standard Android features.

Important: This service does not log or share any of your actions, personal data, or device activity outside of the context required to keep the Smartiv app in focus.

Required Disclosure:

This app uses the AccessibilityService API to enforce kiosk mode by monitoring the currently active app and bringing Smartiv to the foreground if an unauthorized app is opened. This ensures the device remains in a secure, branded interface intended for guests in hospitality settings.

Smartiv does not use the Accessibility API to:

  • Access or collect personal or sensitive user data

  • Perform deceptive behavior

  • Record calls or audio

  • Disable or uninstall apps

  • Alter device settings without user consent

3. Data Security

Smartiv does not transmit or store user data. All interactions are processed locally on the device. We use Android’s system-level controls to protect against unauthorized access.

4. Third-Party Services

Smartiv does not integrate with any third-party SDKs, trackers, or analytics tools that collect user data.

5. User Control and Consent

Users must explicitly enable Accessibility permission through Android system settings. Smartiv presents a clear in-app disclosure dialog explaining why this permission is required, and users may accept or deny the request.

Users may disable the permission at any time via:
Settings > Accessibility > Installed Services > Smartiv > Off

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted within the app and on the Play Store listing.
